Every year the Public Relations Society Of America (PRSA) allows student members from the Public Relations Student Society Of America (PRSSA) to partake in a PR campaign. The PRSA chapter will select a client who they feel presents a campaign where the students and the organization will benefit. This year the PRSA committee selected the KIND organization. KIND started in 2004. Daniel Lubetzky founded the organization with the intentions of defying common belief that snack bars could not be nutritious and delicious, as well as convenient and wholesome. KIND operates on their “AND” philosophy. KIND At its core, it is about challenging assumptions and false compromises – to say “AND” where others say “OR.” It is about not settling or sacrificing one thing for another.
This year PRSSA students across the nation are working on implementing a successful and measurable campaign. Within their campaign they will have to utilize all of the steps a PR professional would use to be successful. Students must research, plan, find a target audience, and use appropriate social media platforms, execution, and evaluation. The rewards for the top performing PRSSA groups are well worth the time put in. Members have the ability to receive money, and have an even larger amount donated to the charity of their choice. Awards are handed out for the top 3 finishing teams. This campaign is fun and worth learning about. I feel the KIND brand will grow drastically after this year. Keep a look out for PRSSA members on campus; they need help raising awareness about all of the great messages KIND represents.
Sam,
ReplyDeleteThe mini history lesson is really nice to know. I also didn't know the KIND campaign was national. Its cool that ONU can partake in something on that level. I think PRSSA is doing great so far and can't wait until the results come out.
